One of the things I love about living in California is how easy it is to get away. A few months ago, my friend Vanessa kidnapped me to go camping in Malibu. On the way to the campsite we found out they no longer have any spots available. Luckily we were able to find the Blue Sky Center in New Cuyama. Blue Sky Center is a self supporting non-profit, working towards building a sustainable rural community, regenerating economy, land, and partnerships within the communities of the Cuyama Valley. You can read more about their mission here.
The center offers 2 options for visitors, you can either book a hut through Airbnb/HipCamp or camp out. For $60 they also offer a hottub experience which I really wanna try the next time I go. However you plan on staying, everything at the center is for everybody including the communal bonfire area, kitchen, laundry rooms and bathrooms.
We spent 1 night sleeping in our tents and for one moment, it felt like we were little island kids playing in the woods back in the Philippines again.
